Contrast validation methods
Back to the contrast gridWeb Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
The WCAG 2.2 contrast minimum (AA) requirements are the following :
- The visual presentation of text and images of text has a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1
- Large-scale text and images of large-scale text have a contrast ratio of at least 3:1
And the WCAG 2.2 contrast enhanced (AAA) recommendations are the following :
- The visual presentation of text and images of text has a contrast ratio of at least 7:1
- Large-scale text and images of large-scale text have a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1
Référentiel général d’amélioration de l’accessibilité (RGAA)
The RGAA 4.1 text color contrast requirements are the following :
- The contrast between the text color and its background color is at least 4.5:1
- The contrast ratio between text of size 24px or larger and its background is at least 3:1

The RAAM 2.0 text color contrast requirements are the following :
The contrast ratio between the text and its background is at least 4.5:1 for normal-sized text and at least 3:1 for large text.
